Tourist Guide

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Cultural Heritage & Nature Interpreter to guide visitors through Patna, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, known for its deep Mauryan roots, sacred multi-faith sites, and the majestic River Ganga. The ideal candidate should be a master storyteller capable of bringing Pataliputra’s 2,500-year-old history to life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead immersive tours: Conduct heritage walks through the Old City, archaeological visits to Kumhrar, and nature-based tours at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park.
• Provide expert commentary: Deliver insightful narratives on Patna’s role as the capital of the Maurya and Gupta Empires, its colonial British history, and its evolution into a modern capital.
• Highlight spiritual heritage: Explain the significance of sites like Takht Sri Patna Sahib (birthplace of the 10th Sikh Guru), Mahavir Mandir, and the Patan Devi Shakti Peethas.
• Interpret museums & libraries: Guide visitors through the galleries of the Bihar Museum and the rare manuscript collections of the Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Library.
• Coordinate logistics: Ensure visitor safety and comfort, especially during major events like the Evening Ganga Aarti at Gandhi Ghat or Chhath Puja.
• Hospitality: Represent the warmth and “Bihari” hospitality that defines the city to domestic and international travelers.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Subject Expertise: Strong knowledge of Indian history (specifically the Magadh era), local art (Patna Kalam), and the city’s unique geography along the Ganga.
• Communication: Exceptional storytelling skills; ability to make complex history engaging for diverse audiences.
• Languages: Fluency in Hindi and English is mandatory. Proficiency in local dialects (Bhojpuri, Magahi, or Maithili) or foreign languages is a major advantage.
• Personality: Energetic, culturally sensitive, and highly organized.

Experience:

• 2–5 years preferred in tour guiding, museum interpretation, or cultural tourism.
• Passionate locals with academic backgrounds in History, Archaeology, or Tourism and deep regional roots are highly encouraged to apply.
